Marlon Pollard Becomes 10th Irish Verbal

When Darrin Walls committed to the Irish three years ago, he became the lone shining star in a pitifully weak corps of corners. My, how the times have changed! Charlie Weis and crew have worked tirelessly to restock the cupboard, and took another huge step today when Marlon Pollard officially decommitted from UCLA and became the 10th verbal commitment for Notre Dame's 2009 recruiting class.

Pollard, a 6'1" 160 lb. CB from Cajon, CA, verballed to his hometown Bruins before his junior year. However, after recording 60 tackles and 4 picks as a junior, he quickly found himself on the national radar, with offers coming from Notre Dame, Washington, and Nebraska.

Pollard attended a camp in Chicago earlier this year and took a quick, unscheduled trip to South Bend. Apparently he "felt it" and decided to switch allegiances after discussing his decision with his mother.

The Irish appear done at corner after snagging the four-star athlete, but we all know that if another top athlete wants to make South Bend his home, Charlie Weis will be more than happy to welcome him with open arms.
